Nurturing a movement of missional communities
What does this word “missional” mean? Is it only a new Christian buzzword? I believe that the word missional takes “mission” and turns it into an adjective, a describing word. Missional describes what kind of church community we are, the how and why of what we do. But, even more fundamental, missional describes the sending, going God.
Our Lord Jesus, the one who was sent, became a person and moved into our neighborhood. Being missional, therefore, is responding to the Missio Dei, the sending of God. At Virginia Mennonite Missions, we want to help churches-here and everywhere-ask the missional question: “How do we join Jesus in His mission?”
