Special need for Shalom Church in Italy

Posted on December 22, 2014 by VMMissions Staff

The Shalom congregation in Palermo, Italy, began in the early 1990s in a part of the city that was dominated by violence. The church was named Shalom in hopes of bringing peace to that area of the city. It has grown under the capable Italian leadership of Pino Arena.

Last week someone broke into the church and hauled away all of their musical and amplification equipment, accessories, etc. Pino found the church bare except for the benches. In a congregation where many of the people struggle to find work or to be paid adequately for the work they do, this was devastating.

We are asking for your help in buying new equipment for the congregation. If you desire to give, please give online below or send donations designated “Italy-Shalom Church” at Virginia Mennonite Missions, 901 Parkwood Drive, Harrisonburg, VA.

The cost will be around $5,000 to repair the damage. Please pray that shalom can come to that area of the city.
