Taryn Zander

Serving in: Harrisonburg, Virginia

Program name: tranSend (1-2 years)

Serving since:

Taryn serves with tranSend, mobilizing short-term teams to engage refugee populations in Europe and the Middle East. Her interest in responding to the international refugee crisis took solid root after a short-term trip to a refugee camp in December 2016. Through shared interests in local refugee ministry, she became connected to VMMissions.

Taryn will be based in Harrisonburg, but will be traveling internationally for periods of 3-4 weeks to explore ministry locations related to refugee populations around the world, focusing on areas where VMMissions has partner connections. She will serve with the tranSend program.

Taryn’s research and work will be instrumental in helping VMMissions’ Global Team identify priority placements for short-term engagements with refugee populations which she will then help recruit and provide training for. She will also help VMMissions as it becomes an active member of Standards of Excellence in Short-term Missions (SOE) and will lead a short-term team, identifying strong short-term mission placement opportunities, and participate in training of short-term team leaders.

She attends Eastside Church, Harrisonburg, Va.

Consider standing with national churches and ministries on the front lines of the greatest refugee crises in modern history by joining a 2018 spring or summer team.
