John David Thacker has a vision is to plant churches that can be witnesses to the Kingdom of God in a post-Christian society, beginning in Charleston, W.Va. He envisions a network of small groups meeting regularly for worship, prayer, fellowship, study, discipling new followers of Jesus, and missional service in the community. His first year in this ministry role is focused on building relationships with VMMissions and VMC, and building personal and support networks in Charleston and beyond.

He is currently raising support for his term, and is working with Central District of Virginia Mennonite Conference to establish relationships. This assignment is in partnership with Mennonite Mission Network. John David previously served in Ethiopia at Meserete Kristos College with Mission Network.

He is an Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary graduate with an M.Div. He is ordained with credentials held by Pacific Northwest Mennonite Conference, and has had both pastoral and church planting experience in Alaska.
