Perspectives Class

God is on a mission to bless the peoples of the earth. You are invited to join!

"God is pursuing with omnipotent passion a worldwide purpose of gathering joyful worshippers for Himself from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. He has an inexhaustible enthusiasm for the supremacy of his name among the nations.
- Dr. John Piper

The Perspectives course has been helping God’s people find their place and calling within God’s heart and mission for the past 50 years.

Rooted in the Scriptures, it’s a multi-faceted learning experience that has profoundly impacted over 250,000 alumni. This fifteen-lesson education course explores different aspects of God's global purpose in a multi-faceted learning experience. Endorsed by a broad spectrum of evangelical denominations, ministries and mission agencies, the class provides an overview of the biblical mandate, a review of mission history, a window into cultural factors and an examination of mission strategies.

Students participate in discipleship-focused classes, with reading assignments drawn from a curated collection of articles from missiologists and practitioners. Class sessions provide opportunities for in-person interaction with approved Perspectives instructors who offer insights drawn from their experience and expertise. Reflection assignments reviewed by mentors help learnings to become personalized. Students can enroll at whatever level is appropriate: key reading, certificate, or for undergraduate or graduate level credit.

VMMissions has partnered with area congregations of different denominations to offer a Perspectives class this year in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

The classes have been meeting Wednesday evenings from January 17 to April 24, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church.
