How to help
Mission is about being sent to share the best news in the world with our actions and our words. What is that news? That the God of the universe loved this broken world too much to leave us on our own. Instead, God became one of us in Jesus Christ to rescue us from sin and release us into a new life of joy and peace, now and forever.
The Apostle Paul puts it this way: “For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross” (Col. 1:19-20).
The cross made peace possible. But that wasn’t the end of the story. Jesus rose from the grave, breathed the Spirit of life into his disciples, and sent them out to join his reconciling work. “Peace be with you,” he declared. “As the Father has sent me, so I send you” (John 20:21). Carried by the Spirit, those disciples went out, sharing the good news across boundaries of language, race, culture, and religion, resulting in a movement that continues to the present day. That same sending Spirit is available now to all who turn to Jesus in repentance and faith.
At Virginia Mennonite Missions, we seek to join this movement of offering new life to all through Jesus. We do that through evangelism, church planting, leadership training, education, peacebuilding, community development and more. Partner with us through prayer, financial gifts or serving in mission. With your help, we can join God’s work to transform the world.
