Introducing new Virginia Mennonite Missions staff

Aaron Kauffman, Global Ministries Director

Aaron Kauffman will begin serving in a quarter-time position as Global Ministries Director for VMMissions on June 1. This new position convenes and leads a team of four regional directors with responsibility for VMMissions’ global relationships and ministries.

Aaron served in Ethiopia with Eastern Mennonite Missions and more recently with his wife Laura and family in Colombia in joint appointment with VMMissions and Mennonite Mission Network. Aaron completed an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages/Bilingual Education at Georgetown University and plans to complete his M.Div. at Eastern Mennonite Seminary this next year. He has been employed as Adjunct Instructor at Eastern Mennonite University, teaching in the MA program as well as the Intensive English program.

Aaron brings mission experience and passion to this role along with perceptive and sensitive insight into the role of Virginia Mennonite Missions in global relationships. Aaron and Laura, and Abigail, Anna and Asher, belong to Zion Mennonite Church, Broadway.

Skip and Carol Tobin returned to the US from their long-term mission assignment in Thailand in 2009. It became immediately apparent that missiological insights gleaned over years of nurturing a church planting movement elsewhere are helpful here at home.

That is exactly what Skip is doing, bringing a global missiology into our own USA ministry context. Skip has been serving as VMMissions’ USA Ministries Director since January 1, 2011, encouraging and coaching a movement of church planting and new ministry development here in Virginia Mennonite Conference.

Along with this role, both Skip and Carol continue to carry additional consulting and leadership responsibilities globally for VMMissions and for Eastern Mennonite Missions. Skip and Carol are members of Harrisonburg Mennonite Church.
